Kids playing football

Welcome to Glenbuck Juniors FC!

We are a junior football club based in Prescot, Liverpool. We are a fairly new club but with bags of grassroots football experience in our ranks. We believe that all children should be able to take part in football regardless of their ability and experience or ability to pay. We do not put children through trials or request that your child has experience. We ask one simple question: does your child want to play football? If you’ve answered yes to that question then get in touch using the "Join Our Team" button below.

About Glenbuck Juniors

How do we do it?
We work hard to fundraise throughout the year so that we can provide for our players, we also identify and apply for local and national funding. Our committee and coaches are volunteers, nobody earns a penny from providing football at Glenbuck Juniors. Spend some time talking to any of our volunteers and you will quickly notice that we are incredibly passionate about what we do.
We have a small tuck shop (The Buck Shop) at training and matches which helps us to raise money throughout the season and we hold fundraising events a few times a year.
We also have fantastic team sponsors who provide our teams with kits so they look fantastic on the pitch. You can help us raise vital funds for the club too by selecting to support Glenbuck Juniors when you sign up for Easy Funding, using the following link: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/glenbuck-juniors-fc

Will I have to pay anything?
We cover the cost of league fees, kits, training equipment, referees fees and recently we’ve even raised the money to pay for winter coats to keep our players warm and dry. The majority of clubs charge monthly subs and registration fees but we do not ask for a penny!
Unfortunately, the only thing we can’t cover is winter training venue hire…yet. This will be the only cost to you.
during winter periods we ask for a monetary donation to cover the rental of pitches. Details on this are given ahead of each winter period and information can be sought from either Clare Taylorson or Lynn Cain.
We don’t want this to be a barrier so if you cannot stretch your budget to meet this cost then please have a quiet word with us, there is often something we can do to help.
The rest is free!

Where are you based?
Our home is Prescot Primary School, we hold our spring/summer training sessions here and it’s our home pitch. See the Get in Touch section for the full address.
During the autumn/winter we train on an all-weather pitch usually in De La Salle, St Helens.

What league are you in?
We are proud to play in the Warrington Junior Football League. The league is massive and is able to cater for a host of ability levels. Our teams are entered into the league and cup competitions.
Matches take place on Saturdays and work on a Home and Away basis. Away games take place within a 15 mile radius of Warrington but the vast majority of teams seem to be in the Warrington/Widnes/Runcorn areas.

What is expected of me and my child?
All our players must abide by a code of conduct [link] and so must our parents/guardians Parent Code of Conduct.

We expect you to be supportive in the right ways, we do not tolerate poor behaviour on the sidelines.
It’s vitally important that all children feel safe at football so that they enjoy themselves and want to come back time and time again.
We encourage our players to make decisions on the pitch and empower them to try new things. Our players are all learning a game that not even professionals can get right every time.
Players need your support, congratulate them for effort, reward them for good attitude and leave the coaching to the coaches.

The coaching members, our dedicated team that are at the forefront of our team's development.

U9s Coach
Jon Murphy is the U9s Coach:

U11s Coach
Paul McGlynn is the U11s Coach:
I have been coaching kids' football for nearly 10 years. I am a level 1 qualified coach and a qualified futsal coach. I have played football for the LFC foundation and the NorthWest Lions, with the highlight being playing at St George's Park where the England squad are based. My young son is not quite ready for a pair of boots yet but no doubt it won't be long until he's running rings around me on the pitch.
U11s Coach
U12s Gold Head Coach
Paul Heron is the U12s Gold Head Coach:
Football has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. From kicking a ball around with friends as a kid to playing in local teams throughout my life, the sport has always been a part of who I am. Becoming a coach for Glenbuck Juniors is an exciting new chapter in that journey, and I’m thrilled to have the chance to share my love for the game with the next generation of players. My aim as a coach is to create a positive and encouraging environment where every player can develop their football skills, build confidence, and learn the value of teamwork, all while having fun and growing their passion for the game. My Motto : “Attitude is everything. If you believe it, you can achieve it.”

Peter Rush is a U12's Gold Coach:
I enjoyed a full playing career as a youth, starting my journey with Rainhill United under 9’s many, many years ago, playing for St Helens Town and competing in competitions in Holland and Germany over the years. I moved on to play for teams in both the Liverpool and Warrington leagues and even had a short spell at Tranmere Rovers. I have learnt some valuable and enjoyable lessons and made great friends and memories growing up playing football. I want to pass on this experience and help give kids the chance to grow, learn new skills and make friends doing something they enjoy. I believe that with the right attitude and the drive to try hard, every child can improve their skills and have a lot of fun along the way.

Conor Mills is a U12s Black Coach:
After playing as a youth and following Everton home and away, football took a backseat after having children. In summer 2023, my son suddenly decided that he’d like to join a team, despite not playing before, and so we found Glenbuck. At the club, he’s developed from complete beginner to playing every Saturday with his teammates, even occasionally standing in as captain. I was asked to join the coaching group last year and have enjoyed working with the team and seeing their understanding of the game develop, their technical abilities and fitness improve and their team spirit strengthen after facing challenges together
